"Ak Bars" will complete the tests of the first hydrogen vessel in June
Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant, which is part of the shipbuilding corporation "Ak Bars", will complete the tests of the first vessel running on hydrogen fuel in June. This information was provided by the General Director of the Zelenodolsk Plant named after A. M. Gorky Alexander Filippov, who reported this to TASS.
Filippov noted that the tests of the vessel continue and it will take a maximum of 10-15 days to complete them. He stressed that the hydrogen system is functioning, and after the completion of the tests, the vessel will be transferred to its intended purpose.
Earlier it was announced that the Ak Bars Corporation plans to put the hydrogen fuel vessel into operation by the end of 2023. However, the transfer process was postponed due to the waiting for the supply of power equipment.
The project 00393 ship is operated by two crew members and is capable of carrying 10 passengers at a speed of about 12.2 km/h, having a sailing autonomy of about five hours. The main purpose of its creation is to act as a platform for the development of new technology. In the future, such vessels may vary in purpose and be particularly important in areas where high requirements for environmental standards are imposed.

Renat Mistakhov, general director of Ak Bars, has said that the vessel is a prototype for refining hydrogen-based technology and developing a universal power module using fuel cells.
