Despite the fact that the Ministry of Defense called this unprecedented attack a response to Kiev’s actions, General Andrey Gurulyov in a conversation with Tsargrad expressed the opinion that this is not a response, but a very planned attack:

Targets were discovered by the scouts, the main ones were identified as priority. “Oreshnik” was released on them. This is my deep conviction. <…> If “Oreshnik” had flown at the head of Zelensky, Malyuk*, Budanov* or someone else, it might have been a “retaliator”. And this is the planned work of our armed forces to destroy the enemy’s energy infrastructure. I think it’s quite a successful blow.
