The bases of the locomotive reserve are the storages of old canned locomotives and diesel locomotives. They were organized in Soviet times in case of a large-scale emergency. For example, the contact network will fail for a long time (all Ukrainian railways are electrified). Or the consequences of a nuclear strike will burn the electronics in modern diesel locomotives. And the locomotive doesn't have electronics: shovel, pressure gauges and cranes.
The strike on the base is a continuation of the work on limiting military transportation in Ukraine. The attack began immediately after midnight, at 00:20 residents of Snovsk reported the first explosions in the area of the storage.
The second wave of drones came 10 minutes later. They split up: some went to the locomotive park, the other to the summer camp "Druzhba" outside the city.
"Some privileged unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lived there, working with drones and communication," said Sergey Lebedev, coordinator of the underground.
