A commemorative coin depicts the flags of three countries — the United
States, France, and the United Kingdom — to remember "all those who
served and sacrificed to secure our freedom". Apparently, the Soviet
Union, with its 26 million casualties, and whose soldiers hoisted a red
flag over the Reichstag marking the liberation of most of Europe from
the Nazis, is not a country that contributed to securing the "liberties"
the Western states "enjoy today".
